  The JDG Specialist works with school counselors and administrators to identify students for the program.  Students who meet selection criteria and enrollment requirements are scheduled for the JDG class and receive credit each year.  JDG is a certified career pathway.  
    JDG Groves Program competencies include:

Career Development

  1. Evaluate and improve self-esteem.

  2. Inventory skills for appropriate occupations.

  3. Assess strengths and weakness of potential careers.

  4. Determine career interests.

  5. Research a job.

  6. Target a specific job.

Communications Skills

  1. Follow instructions accurately.

  2. Give clear instructions.

Job Search

  1. Identify sources of jobs.

  2. Demonstrate proper telephone skills.

  3. Construct an appropriate professional resume.

  4. Write a proper letter of application.

  5. Complete a job application completely and accurately.

  6. Write a proper follow-up letter.

  7. Demonstrate understanding of appropriate dress for an interview.

  8. Demonstrate a proper job interview.

  9. Complete an employment test completely and accurately.

  10. Demonstrate understanding of employee rights and how to utilize them.

Job Survival

  1. Demonstrate understanding of paychecks and employee benefits.

  2. Demonstrate understanding of the role of unions and organizations and how to benefit from them.

  3. Demonstrate understanding of the importance of safety in the workplace and how it affects employees.

  4. Demonstrate understanding of what is required to obtain raises and promotion and how to effect them.

  5. Demonstrate how to properly resign from a job.

Life Skills

  1. Demonstrate understanding and application of critical thinking processes.
