You are applying to participate in the JDG C.O.R.E. (Creating Opportunities through Real Experiences) Internship Program. Jobs for Delaware Graduates and Christiana Care are partnering to offer this experience to select students. Students who complete internships during high school can look forward to:

- Improving your confidence when seeking employment or post-secondary education.
Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicant must be a rising senior currently participating in a JDG program.
- Commitment from start to finish of JDG C.O.R.E. Program window.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Passing all required courses for graduation.
- Can provide own transportation.
Planned Internship Rotation Departments:
- Cancer Center – The Helen F. Graham Cancer Center is a state-of-the-art facility that serves a majority of the cancer patients residing in Delaware. The Cancer Center also includes the Christiana Care Breast Center, an outpatient facility that features the state’s only dedicated breast MRI.
- Clinical Engineering – Clinical Engineering provides the engineering expertise and technical services associated with patient care equipment and electromedical technology in the Christiana Care Corporation. This team works to assure that equipment/technology is wisely purchased and properly managed in a high-quality, timely and cost-effective manner. They also provide inventory control, corrective maintenance, periodic maintenance/testing, and incident investigation on existing patient care equipment.
- Pharmacy – The world of pharmacy is rapidly changing and Christiana’s mission is to help students become outstanding pharmacists who are working at the forefront of the field. Imagine working in a residency program that gives you the skills to deliver high quality, high-value care in an innovative and supportive environment. During this rotation, you will work with nationally recognized faculty and residents, each of them among the most caring pharmacists you’ll find. They care about healing patients. And they care about your growth as a pharmacist and your growth as a human being.
- Rehabilitation Services – Christiana Care’s experts in physical, occupational, speech and audiology therapies for adults and children are important partners that help patients build strength, improve mobility, and re-learn skills of daily living.
Physical Therapy – Patients recovering from a sports injury, struggling with chronic back pain, or need who strength and balance support to prevent falls, turn to physical therapy as an excellent way to improve mobility, reduce or eliminate pain, and possibly even help them avoid the need for surgery or medications.
Occupational Therapy – helps patients return to work after an injury, or to take care of basic needs such as dressing, bathing, and homemaking.
Speech and Language Therapy – Christiana Care’s speech and language pathologists are uniquely prepared to help both children and adults overcome developmental vocal challenges or speech impediments caused by injury or disease. Their team is also skilled in helping patients regain the ability to eat, drink, chew and swallow.
Audiology Services – The ability to hear is a precious gift, but you may not realize that hearing loss can also affect your balance. Christiana Care’s comprehensive audiology program features advanced diagnostic and rehabilitative services and technologies to help with hearing loss and keep patients steady on their feet.
Note: The JDG C.O.R.E. Internship Program takes commitment and is a big responsibility. If you are accepted into the program, we expect you to fully participate in all program activities and to be personally responsible for your attendance, attitude, and performance at work and at other activities.
As a student intern, you must agree to:
- Arrive to work on time, dressed appropriately (October – May, 2 days per week, 4 hours per day)
- Complete assigned work tasks.
- Contribute to a positive atmosphere at the workplace.
- Comply with all internship and/or company policies and regulations.
- Discuss and set realistic goals with my supervisor and participate in periodic assessments.
- Provide a copy of a Federal and State Background check if you are 18 and older (as of October 1, 2019).
