Student to Student

Students in Jobs for Delaware Graduates and members of the George Reed Middle School Basketball Team had an opportunity to hear from student-athlete, Jyare Davis (age 15).

Jyare is a rising sophomore at Sanford (High) School in Hockessin, DE. While closing out a busy year on the court, Jyare spoke candidly with the students about his success in the game and in the classroom. As an aspiring engineer, Jyare discussed the challenges that motivated him to work harder, to set higher goals, and to never back down. He also spoke about his accomplishments and summer playing for Team Rio in the UAA circuit. Fully intrigued by his success, the students asked questions about his inspirations, workout regiment, diet, and Jyare’s journey to becoming one of the top high school players in the nation.

Before leaving, Jyare shared some of his awards, an interest letter from Duke Univerity and his Team USA and Sanford School jerseys.

Speaking with Jyare gave students a first-hand look at the determination and the importance of being humble.
